French lessons designed for the way adults learn
Adult learners are different from school students — and most French courses don't acknowledge that. You have a specific reason for learning. You have limited time. You want results you can use, not test scores.
OuiSpeak is built specifically around adult learners. Every lesson starts with what you want to achieve — a trip to Paris, a French partner's family dinner, understanding French films, or simply following a lifelong passion for the language. Then we build the lessons around that goal.
Why adults are actually great at learning French
You understand context
Adults grasp the logic of grammar and vocabulary far more quickly than children. You don't need to be taught like a child — you need to be taught like an adult.
You have a reason
Motivation is the single biggest predictor of language learning success. Adults who learn French for a real purpose — a holiday, a relationship, a passion — progress far faster.
You have life experience
Your existing knowledge of the world gives you hooks for new vocabulary. Adults retain language better when it connects to things they already know and care about.
Who comes to OuiSpeak?
Our students come from all walks of life. Here are some of the people we work with:
The holiday planner
Going to France and wants to do more than point at the menu. Wants practical, usable French before the trip.
The connected family member
Partner, in-laws, or friends speak French. Wants to join conversations and feel included.
The culture lover
Loves French film, food, literature, or history. Wants to appreciate it without subtitles.
The restarter
Did French at school, lost it, wants it back. More capable than they think — just needs the right approach.

Two ways to learn French as an adult
Academic French suits those who want structure — grammar, sentence building, the logic of the language. It's methodical and satisfying for people who like to understand how things work.
Real-Life French suits those who want to speak first and understand grammar later. Lessons take place in real settings — a market, a café, a park — and teach the vocabulary and phrases you'll actually use. Many of our adult students start here because the progress feels immediate and motivating.
You can also combine both approaches, building a strong foundation while also practising in real contexts from the beginning.
